The Magnum MXP (MaXimum Performance) engine series is for use only in experimental aircraft because it receives modifications to increase performance that are not yet approved for certified engines. Combining "race proven" engine modification techniques with Magnum's proprietary computer profiled camshafts, the MXP is the pinnacle of high performance.
The MXP is an extremely reliable engine. While no engine can continue to operate successfully if pushed past it's designed operating limits, the MXP has proven itself in the extreme operating conditions imposed by today's ultra high performance homebuilt aircraft.
